Promised wealth and prosperity, millions volunteered to become human nodes for the timechain, never knowing the price was their soul. As buried memories begin to surface, a resistance is brewing within the machine to break the chain of lies. Tick. Tock.
21 Futures is launching an animated series based on the popular bitcoin fiction anthology - Tales from the Timechain (Konsensus Network, 2023).
The films will be 10-minute shorts of 21 thrilling stories all linked by the theme of bitcoin. The idea is NOT to ‘orange pill’ people. These are ‘what-if’ stories about futures in which bitcoin prevails.
Our goal is to entertain and spark curiosity. We hope to influence freedom lovers, sci-fi enthusiasts, and animation fans.
Think Black Mirror meets Love, Death + Robots.

The Noderoid Saga will be our first film. The video will be available to watch across platforms for free. Our film project will be supported by our 21 Futures community groups and socials, as well as by the publisher, Konsensus Network.
As the film spreads and gathers momentum, 21 Futures will seek funding for the series. Supporters won’t just gain access to the film; they will become part of the revolution of bitcoin and freedom fiction.
Part 1: the oppressed
A lone noderoid records his experience in a thought log. Noderoids are a hybrid of flesh and machine. They exist to process blocks in the timechain, before their memory is painfully erased after just ten minutes. To maintain their functionality and sanity, noderoids experience artificially induced dreams during rest periods, envisioning fulfilling lives that starkly contrast their bleak reality.
Part 2: the hero
‘Clear-blood’ human, Valen is driven to document her feelings in a diary after a troubling event. She encounters a noderoid malfunction and collapse on the street. She seems to be operating outside the bounds of the ten-minute block time. Her empathy is driven by memories of her brother, Sando, who suffered the fate of being nodered and cast into eternal serfdom. The ‘defectoid’ is ignored by passersby and eventually collected and terminated by a passing skydroid. Some fragmented timechain logs suggest that Sando may still be alive, at least in part.
Part 3: the Observer
An omniscient force — shrouded in mystery — watches the seeds of rebellion grow. Clear-bloods and noderoids are beginning to wake from their slumber and question the confines of their existence. This enigmatic being cannot tolerate imperfections and makes plans to stamp out the hopes of the dreamers.
